NORGAARD - Melanie Norgaard, beloved wife of Norman of the Ituna district passed away on Sunday, December 5, 2010 at St. Peter's Hospital in Melville. She was 53 years of age. Melanie was the youngest of three children born to Chris and Mildred Anderson at KW Hospital in Kitchener Ontario, April 13th 1957. She attended school at Prueter Public and Kitchener Collegiate in Kitchener. Melanie also studied to be a Veterinary Assistant. She had a passion for all animals and was always surrounded by her pets. She also cared for her Morgan horses. Melanie worked at Strudex Fibres in Waterloo for a number of years where she was also the Union Steward. While on a vacation with her mother in Saskatchewan, Melanie met Norman. They were married on June 21st 2004 on the farm in Ituna. Melanie worked on the farm, which she loved and also held several jobs in the Ituna area. She was also an avid reader and always loved a good book. In the spring Melanie fulfilled a wish and went on a vacation to Jamaica with Norman. She was a very caring and giving person, full of life. Melanie was predeceased by her father Chris Anderson. She is survived by her husband Norman of Ituna; mother: Mildred Anderson of Melville; brothers: Dave Anderson (wife Bonnie) of Melville, and Shane Anderson of Cambridge, Ontario; son: Chris Ferguson and family of Guelph, Ontario; brother in law: Ron Norgaard of Grand Prairie, AB; and a sister in law: Kathy Allison of Cambridge, ON. Cremation took place at Baileys Yorkton Memorial Gardens Crematorium. A memorial service to celebrate Melanie's life was held on Monday, December 13, 2010 from St. Stanislaus RC Church in Ituna with Rev. Sue Manning of the United Church of Canada officiating. Tributes were given by brother David Anderson, and by family friend Cindy Yanko. Organist, Paulette van der Helm led the congregation in the singing of the hymns 'Amazing Grace' and 'In the Garden'. Husband Norman was the urnbearer. Cremation and funeral arrangements were entrusted to Bailey's Funeral Home.
