Morris Terry Halipchak Obituary

HALIPCHAK, MYROSLAW (MORRIS) TERRY, age 78 years of Ituna, SK passed away July 3, 2019 with family at his side. Morris was born January 25, 1941 to Alex and Mary (Spilchuk) Halipchak and was the third of four children. He was predeceased by his parents, brother Vladimir and sisters Nettie and Zenia. Morris married Shirl (Braden) on November 25, 1967. He attended country school at Churchill (St. Nicholas). Morris worked with the CN rail from an early age and returned to successfully farm full-time until retirement. Morris was always willing to help his cousins and neighbors with farming and various tasks. Morris and Shirl had four children. Dad's heart and passion was agriculture. He had a strong work ethic and spent endless hours working on developing their beautiful yard while operating a productive mixed farm. He took pride in everything he did, and his family was his first priority. Dad taught his children and grandchildren the importance of family and the value of spending time together. Dad modelled kindness, compassion and friendliness to all of those around him. Dad's spiritual belief was strong and he devoted many endless hours to the Ukrainian Catholic Church. This included; helping to build the Church, fundraising for the new Sacred Hearth Parish Center, landscaping at the cemetery, perogy making at the hall, being the groundskeeper at the parish, serving as a Sacristan at masses, plus many other roles. Dad was a member of Knights of Columbus for many years and received recognition for record fundraiser achievements with the K of C. Dad loved watching NHL, baseball and CFL while being devoted to supporting his children. Over the years he would make several trips from the farm to town in a single day tirelessly doing farm chores and taking kids to extracurricular activities. He was extremely proud of his Ukrainian heritage. Dauphin's National Ukrainian Festival was an annual family event and will remain a family tradition. He is survived by his wife Shirl, along with their four children: Norman and Wendy (Shul); Priscilla; Anastasia; and Maurice and Lisa (Bruce) along with his five precious grandchildren: Carson, Kylee, Matthew, Samuel and Andrew. Prayers were held on Monday, July 8, 2019 at Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church in Ituna, Saskatchewan. The Holy Rosary led by members of the Knights of Columbus preceded the prayers. The Funeral Liturgy was held on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church with Rev. Father Basil Malowany and Most Rev. Bishop Michael Wiwchar as Concelebrants. The cross bearer and eulogist was Norman Halipchak and the epistle reader was Kylee Halipchak. The interment followed in the Sacred Heart Parish Cemetery with family members, Maurice, Matthew, Samuel, Andrew, Priscilla, Anastasia, Carson and Kylee serving as the casket bearers. Memorial donations in memory of Morris may be made to Liturgy Offerings or Sacred Heart Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund as gifts of remembrance.
