Kevin Phillips Obituary

Kevin Keith Phillips was born May 29, 1954 to Wes and Mary Phillips in Kinistino SK. He spent his childhood and school years in Kinistino with his 3 brothers, his sister and his best friend Percy. They grew up in a loving home with strong values that Kevin kept with him his entire life. He was taught to love your family first and also to love your community, to be kind to others and to never stop learning. Kevin has lived in Melfort for the past 40 years. He has worked in business and advertising, which included being a partner in the family business of the Melfort Journal for 25 years and sitting on the board of the Canadian Newspaper Association. Kevin was also partner at Sunshine and Riverside Chrysler. He also served as Melfort Mayor from 2006 to 2011. Kevin has been very active in the Melfort Community. He is past president of the Kinsmen Club and was honoured with a lifetime membership. Kevin also served as a board member and chairman of the Melfort School Division. Kevin was first elected to the Saskatchewan Legislature in 2011 and was re-elected in 2016. He served the people of the Melfort Constituency until his untimely passing. Kevin enjoyed spending time at the cabin at Emma Lake, cheering on the Roughriders, going on canoe and fishing trips and of course spending time with his children and grandchildren. Kevin will be sadly missed and forever loved by his wife, the love of his life, April; their children and grandchildren: Kelli (Howard) Smith, Justice, Desiree, Denzel, Autumn and Tempestt; Brenden (Carly) Phillips; Brandi (Zach) Moskal, Tyson and Haley; Riley (Felisha) Fischl, Kaleb, Raigen, Dexter, Ava and Mia; sister Marlyn (Tim) Leson; brothers: Warren (Donna) Phillips, Larry (Rita) Phillips; sisters-in-law: Sadie Phillips, Corry (Danny) Klassen, Roxy (Tim) Callaghan; mother-in-law Darlene Allen; Kelli and Brenden's mother Joanne Phillips and his very best friend Percy (Jacki) Balon, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and all that knew and loved him.
