Marlene Baptist MELFORT, Saskatchewan Obituary

Marlene Baptist

Doris (Marlene) Baptist was born on September 8, 1936 by a midwife in Star City, Sask. to Peter and Rosalia Helstrom. Marlene grew up on the family farm and attended McAllister school, Star City (grades 9 and 10) and Melfort (grades 11 and 12). She married Clarence Baptist on November 4, 1955. Marlene and Clarence lived in Melfort where she worked for the Bank Of Commerce until their first son Kevin was born. Then they moved to the Melfort Research Station and lived there until 1969, when they purchased their home in Melfort, where they still currently reside. While raising her family she worked part time at Eatons (10 years) and Sears (18 years). She enjoyed volunteering at the Melfort Hospital Gift Shop (22 years) as well as being a member of the Red Hat Society (12 years) and the Melfort Seniors Club (5 years). Marlene's greatest joy was her family and friends. She had an amazing memory for the names of everyone's family members, along with everyone's birthdays. Her loving ways will forever be cherished by those who knew her. We will carry forward the strength she had during her courageous battle with cancer. Forever loved, now rest in peace. She is survived by her loving husband, Clarence, of 61 years. Her children: Kevin (Bev) and two children Tyler (Kelly) and Jenna (Chase) Rodger and two children Nicole (Haley) and their son Grayson, and Shawn Darwin (Lynette) and two children Stacie (Brandon) and their son Burke, and Alicia Rob (Christina) and three children Braden, Madison and Ella Val (Charlie) and daughter Jodi Lois (Dennis) and two children Chelsey (Devon) and their son Kayden, and Jesse (Amanda) and their daughter Emersyn She will be missed by her brother Vernon (Cheryle) Helstrom, sisters: Veryl Carlson and Faye Harms, sisters-in law: Vipsen and Jean Helstrom; the Baptist family and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents: Peter and Rosalia Helstrom, brothers: Lauren, Arlie, Alvin, Clayton and sister Hazel.
