Obituary for Evelyn Bernice Orr

ORR - Evelyn Bernice Orr (nee Mitchell), 89 years young, (June 15, 1921-June 25, 2010) is now laughing and dancing with her husband, Ben. Ev was born in Neville, SK to Hardy and Hazelle Mitchell. Ev along with her sister Dorothy and brother Leonard grew up on the family farm near Neville, SK. Ev married Bennett James Orr in 1941 in Pembrooke, ON prior to Ben going overseas to the war. Ben and Ev lived most of their married life together in Saskatoon and celebrated 51 years of marriage prior to his passing in 1992. Evelyn is survived by her loving son, Rick and daughter-in-law Kathy; grandson Kellie (Ella) and their children Damian, Darian, Madison, and Fiana and granddaughter Karrie (Bryan) and their children Amelie and Lauren. She loved being with family, shopping, going to the farmers market, reading, line dancing, and watching Oprah, NASCAR, golf & especially curling. Ev always had big smiles and hugs for everyone, especially her grandchildren. She will be lovingly remembered for her humour, smart dress, and Sunday suppers, especially her wonderful chocolate pie and angel food cake! A come and go tea celebrating Ev’s life will be held on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm at The Good Shepherd Villas, 1499 - 15 Ave. E. Prince Albert. The grandchildren invite you to wear blue, great-grandma’s favourite colour. A private family interment in The Veteran’s Field of Honour, Woodlawn Cemetery in Saskatoon will take place at a later date. A special thank you to Pat, Renee and all the caregivers at The Good Shepherd Villas for their excellent care given to Evelyn over the past 5 years. Also, thank you to the P.A. Home Care Palliative team. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donation can be made to the Lung Association of Saskatchewan, 1231 – 8th Street East, Saskatoon, SK S7H 0S5.
