Sunday, June 8, 2008, James Squire Gardner, late of Northside, SK passed away at home at the age of 76 years. Jim was raised in the Whitefield District on the family farm. In July 1964, he married Lillian Sharpen of Sylvania. Together they had one daughter, Corinne, in 1965. Lillian passed away in January of 1966. With the help of his parents, Jim raised Corinne at the family farm. He spent time later in life with a special friend and companion Elsie Jackson until her passing in 1996. In about 1969, Jim got his pilot license and fulfilled his dream to fly. He worked at many different things throughout his life including farming, brand inspector, store owner in Meath Park, market garden and school custodian. The biggest priority in Jim’s life was family, particularly his daughter and his grandchildren. Throughout life, Jim had a love of nature and the outdoors. His favorite things were fishing, gardening and traveling. While living at Northside he was very involved with the seniors club, the lodge and the church. Jim will be very sadly missed by many family and friends. He is survived by his daughter Corinne (Allan) Sheremata; his grandchildren Michael Gardner, Brittany and Meagan Sheremata; his brother Robert (Helen) Gardner; his sisters Shirley (Jim) Bennett, Mavis (Glen) Toll, Glenda (Bill) Kosowan; his sisters-in-law Esther Hegedus, Ethel (Jim) Chowan and Ivy (George) Hamblin; daughter of the heart Kim (Ted) Korte; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and his pet companions Timon and Rocco. He was predeceased by his wife Lillian (nee Sharpen); his parents Alan and Ruth Gardner; his parents-in-law Renholt and Ingeborg Sharpen; his brothers-in-law Ralph Sharpen and Albert Hegedus; his special friend and companion Elsie Jackson and his pet companions Jiggs and Charlie. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 279 " 3rd Avenue N, Saskatoon, SK S7K 2H8. Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 13, 2008 at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 " 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK, with Pastor Sharon Kuhn officiating. Interment will be at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca.
