Obituary for James John Zuck

ZUCK " Mr. Jim, beloved husband of Gloria Zuck of Prince Albert passed away peacefully at the Victoria Hospital on Friday, May 2, 2008 at the age of 85 years. Jim was born in Hafford, SK on October 10, 1922. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in WWII and was stationed in England for approximately 3 years. After the war, he returned to Saskatchewan and purchased land in the Clouston area where he farmed until his passing. In addition to farming, Jim also worked for Canada Post and delivered mail for 31 years. Following retirement from Canada Post, Jim dedicated his life to pursuing his dream of building a prosperous family farm operation. Following their marriage, Jim & Gloria raised their 2 sons in Prince Albert. Jim was a quiet man that enjoyed being outdoors. He loved to putter around on the farm and enjoyed the solitude of nature and what the farm life had to offer. He also loved sports, and during the winters, loved to watch baseball & football on TV and most recently watching his grandsons play hockey. Jim loved meeting his friends for coffee every day and enjoyed sharing stories with each other. All who knew and loved him are deeply saddened by the loss of such a wonderful Husband, Father, Grandfather & Friend. We’ll miss you, Gido, and we know that you are now our Guardian Angel. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Gloria; his children Daniel & Jon (Michelle); grandchildren Dillon, Nolan & Sophia and numerous friends and extended family. He was predeceased by his mother Dora; his father Donald; his sister Helen Brooks and his brother Edward. In lieu of other tributes, the family requests any donations may be made to the Victoria Hospital Foundation in Jim’s name. Prayer Service will be at 7:00 pm on Monday, May 5, 2008 and Funeral Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at 10:00 am with Reverend Father Ivan Nahachewsky officiating, both services will be held at St. George’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 770 " 14th Street West, Prince Albert, SK. Interment will be at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. Officers and Members of the Royal Canadian Legion will confer Veterans Honours. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray’s Funeral Chapel, Drew Gray, Funeral Director.
