He also coached many teams including the P.A. City Police, the Buckeyes Senior A Team and the Men’s Correctional Center Team. John played his last game at the age of 55. John also played baseball and was the pitcher for the Honeymoon and Hanna teams. John married his wife Ann (Kowal) of 51 years on June 15, 1957. John is survived by his loving wife Ann; his 3 children Kelly and Roxanne Liebrecht (James, Stephanie & David), Debbie & Lionel Diehl (Kelly, Bobbi, Trent, Trevor, Chris, Renae, Rochelle and Jarett), (his great grandchildren Graham, Evan, Vangie & Addie) and Sandy & John MacDonald (Greg); his brother Burke (Bev) Liebrecht; his brother-in-law John Balicki and numerous family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Sam & Vivian and his sister Joy Balicki. John was employed at Western Grocers, Jimmy’s Auto Service in Hanna, MacDonald’s Consolidated in P.A., P.A. Men’s Correctional Center, which turned out to be a position he held for over 25 years and was presented the Long Service Medal by the Governor General. After his retirement, John spent many loving hours watching his grandchildren compete in their various sports and often coached them from the sidelines (“Shoot the Puck!”). Our family would like to thank all Drs. and Medical Staff involved with John’s care, both in P.A. and Saskatoon, and a special thank-you to Lorne Adams of Gray’s Funeral Chapel.
