Lois Mabel Arp
March 22, 1940 – March 8, 2017
Lois Mabel Arp (nee Agnew), late of Fenton, SK, passed away on March 8, 2017 at the age of 76 years surrounded by family at Birchview Respite after a short illness. Lois was born March 22, 1940 in Prince Albert, SK, the oldest child of Charlotte and Harold Agnew from the Fenton area. She married the love of her life Jack Arp of Fenton on November 12, 1959. Together they raised two daughters Valerie and Nancy. Her passions included green housing, gardening - enough to supply the neighbourhood, bird watching - tracking hummingbirds in particular, entertaining family and friends - the more the merrier, her furry four-legged children, sewing and cake decorating and donating an endless supply of buns and pies for various fundraising events. Her reputation as cook and baker were fairly well renowned. She started out by cooking for the men on the Acorn Construction crew and continued for family and friends. No matter what time of day, if you were foolish enough to say you were hungry, she’d whip you up something. She was active in the community for years volunteering for the MS Club, Figure Skating Club, Combined Appeal and TOPS. Lois was and will be forever remembered as ‘Command Central’. She kept tabs on the family and goings-on in Fenton and Birch Hills. When anyone wanted to know something, they phoned Lois. Throughout medical challenges that would have defeated some, mom never once complained to us. She faced them all with a positive attitude and never failing faith – she remained strong for her family to her very last breath. Lois will be lovingly cherished and remembered by her husband Jack Arp of 57 years; their daughters Valerie Austin (John Russin) and Nancy Arp; their grandchildren and great grandchildren Van (Amanda) Austin and their children Samuel and Maddox, Brett (Andrea) Austin and their children Kaden, Livia, Kinley, Logan and Vasyn, Brandy (Scott) Woolsey and their children Austin and Benjamin; her brother and sister-in-law Harvey (Gail) Agnew and their children Lisa (Garth) Baxter and family, Todd (Raelynn) Agnew and family, Brent (Cyndi) Agnew and family; her nephew Harold (Crystal) Agnew and family; and niece Joy (Scott) Butler; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Bob and Marlene Arp and their children Bryan (Colleen) Arp and family, Richard (Patricia) Arp and family; Angela Arp and family, Christopher (Melanie) Arp, Charles (Cara) Arp; her extended family Bert Wait, Bruce and Terry Wait, Sue Wait and family, Neal (Kerri) Wait and family, Florence Sinclair, Bob and Pauline Dixon and Mike (Diane) Dixon. Lois was predeceased by her parents Harold and Charlotte Agnew; her parents-in-law Richard and Corine Arp; her brother and sister-in-law David and Lorraine Agnew; extended family Leona Wait and Jennifer and Angela Wait. The family would like give special thanks to Cheryl Weger, Birchview Staff and Oreo, and the RM Boys for their many acts of kindness and support. Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 13, 2017 at United Church, Birch Hills, SK with Duane Mohn officiating. Interment will be held at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens following the luncheon. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca.
