Obituary for Paul Lucien Lavoie

Paul Lucien LAVOIE
July 8, 1942 – February 19, 2017

Paul Lavoie passed away peacefully at the Victoria Hospital on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at the age of 74. Paul was born and raised on the family farm by his parents Delare and Napoleon Lavoie, he was the youngest of 5 children. Paul remained on the family farm throughout his life. In 1970 he married Sylvia Doucette and they had two children, Julienne and Bernadette. Throughout those years, he worked full time as an equipment operator at the Pulp Mill as well as farming his land. Although working two jobs, Paul always took time for his family. They enjoyed camping, fishing, trips to B.C. and visiting friends and family. During his retirement, Paul and Sylvia travelled the world, always returning to his beloved farm. Paul had four grandchildren who enjoyed his gruff sense of humour and eccentric stories which kept them entertained. On any given day, you would find Paul on his lawn tractor in the yard, cigarette in his mouth, with his shirt wide open in the wind! Paul will be lovingly remembered by his family and his friends. Paul is survived by his loving wife Sylvia; his daughter Bernadette, son-in-law Steve and grandchildren Coralie, Aidan, Nyla and Rose. He was predeceased by his parents Delare (nee Audy) Lavoie and Napoleon Lavoie; his three sisters Muriel Briere, Georgette Gignac and Florence Brassard; his brother Rene Lavoie and his lovely daughter Julie. Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 24, 2017 at St. James Roman Catholic Parish, Albertville, SK with Celebrant Reverend Father Jim Kaptein. Interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to the St. James Parish Cemetery Fund. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca.
