NEUDORF â€" Sylvia Belle (nee Bruce)
August 24, 1930 â€" June 1, 2008
It is with great sadness and sorrow that our family announces the peaceful passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Sylvia Belle Neudorf. After a sudden and brief illness, Sylvia entered into God’s hands with her loving family by her side on Sunday, June 1, 2008 at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon. Sylvia was the third born to Billy and Hester Bruce of Lily Plain, SK. She married Henry Neudorf on October 21, 1949. They started their married life at Lily Plain. In 1958, they moved to a farm in the Sunbeam Valley district of the MacDowall area. Their family consisted of five children. Sylvia was a very dedicated wife and mother to her family. She always planted a large garden, preserving much of the produce. She did this while helping her husband with farm chores, which could be anything from milking cows to hauling the hay home. Sylvia was always available to help whenever help was needed, usually with five children in tow. Being the wonderful cook she was, Sylvia made many meals when people just stopped by and all felt welcomed in her kitchen. The garden was eventually downsized to flower beds that she continued to diligently cater to. She could make anything grow and her beautiful houseplants showed her love. Sylvia enjoyed knitting (especially dish cloths), crocheting, crossword, sudoku, reading, playing cards, scrabble and other games especially with her children and grandchildren. The grandchildren held a very special place in her heart and she always kept the cookie jar full just in case they stopped by. Sylvia was a very active member of the MacDowall Seniors whom she looked forward to seeing regularly. While Henry’s health was good they enjoyed many travels, which Sylvia always cherished. Sylvia was predeceased by her loving husband of 52 years on December 5, 2001. Left to cherish Sylvia’s memory are her five children, daughter Linda (Ron) Marlin of Dauphin, MB and grandchildren Curtis (Serena) and Crystal (Graham); son Gerald (Kathy) Neudorf of MacDowall, SK and grandchildren Jason (Yolanda), Kenda (Jeremy), great granddaughter Kori-Lynn, Eli (Charlotte), great granddaughter Ava, Joshua (Pam); son Wesley (Gwen) Neudorf of MacDowall, SK, grandchildren Amanda (Kris), Rhonda, Deanna (Shawn); son Larry (Annette) Neudorf of MacDowall, SK, grandchildren Leanne (Josh), great granddaughter Bella, Nicole (Gord) Madson, Jesse; son Rick (Joanne) Neudorf of Prince Albert, SK, grandchildren Carleena and Shayleah; her brothers and sister John Bruce, Grant (Hilda) Bruce, Roger (Rose) Bruce, Charlie (Edna) Bruce, Robin (Adeline) Bruce, Gordon Bruce; Peggy Demorest and Norman ( Eleanor) Bruce; as well as sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A special thank you to the doctors and nurses of the Coronary Care Unit at the Royal University Hospital, your care and compassions was greatly appreciated. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
