Jerome Gray, Sr.

Jerome M. Gray, Sr., age 85, Okeechobee, FL passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2017 following a lengthy illness. He was a son of the late John "Sam" Gray and Louise Merry Gray. Jerome had spent most of his life in the West Palm Beach area until retirement then moved to Okeechobee. He served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean conflict and returned to Palm Beach County to work for the Fire Department while continuing his education. Jerome became a school counselor in Palm Beach County and continued to enjoy working with students, parents, excellent principals and teachers until his retirement. He enjoyed traveling extensively all over the U. S. in a motorhome with Irene, especially the trip to Alaska. Jerome was a serious hunter and an avid fisherman and shared these with "Bubba" and friends. He prepared a wonderful "snook salad". Jerome was a member of the Northwood Baptist Church for many years. Other than his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Jerome M. "Bubba" Gray, Jr. and a brother, Grafton Gray. He leaves behind to cherish his memories, his wife of over sixty years, Irene Keesecker Gray. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, February 26, 2017 in the Evergreen Cemetery Mausoleum. Dr. Chris Bogart will officiate at the 2:00 P. M. service. Those wishing to attend should assemble at the mausoleum by 1:50 P. M.
