Eddie Joe Kirkland, 59, a resident of Madrid, Alabama, passed away Thursday, August 22, 2019 at his residence with his family by his side. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 24, 2019 at Madrid Assembly of God Church with Reverend Jerry Harden officiating. Burial will follow in the Madrid City Cemetery with Glover Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 5-7 on Friday in the chapel of Glover Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Southern Care Hospice, 2576 Montgomery Hwy, Suite 2, Dothan, AL, 36303. Mr. Kirkland was born February 25, 1960 in Madrid, Alabama to the late Earnest Bryant and Ressie Gore Kirkland. He was a lifelong resident of Madrid and worked at Bob’s Auto Salvage for several years. He enjoyed racing, working on cars and fishing. Mr. Kirkland enjoyed attending church and was a member of Madrid Assembly of God Church. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by three sisters, infant Margie Ann Kirkland, Vickie Kirkland Jacobs, and Maxine Crooms. Survivors include his wife, Lilly Sue Moat Kirkland, Madrid, AL; a daughter, Stephanie (Dewayne) Conner, Madrid; a son, Anthony Chad (Melissa) Moat, Napier Field; three sisters, Dorothy Bell, Dothan, Janice Hollingshed, Cottonwood, Glenda Nobles, Dothan; three brothers, Earl Kirkland, Madrid, Roy Kirkland, Madrid, Ray Kirkland, Dothan; thirteen grandchildren, Dre Adkinson, Grace Adkinson, Timothy Worley, Bre-Anna Worley, Danica Adkinson, Maddie Conner, Rinoa Conner, T.J. Senn, Donivan Butka, Blayne Moat, Dehvyn Moat, Hunter Senn, and Toby Senn; several nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers will be Dre Adkinson, T. J. Senn, Donivan Butka, Nathan Jacobs, Ray Kirland, Jr., Ronnie Kirkland, Brint Nobles and Josh Jacobs.
