Catherine Brady

Catherine Smith Brady entered into eternal rest on November 1, 2019. She passed away at home, surrounded by family. Services will be held November 4, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Hopewell Baptist Church with Rev. George Washburn officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes Marion Chapel directing. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will begin one hour before the service. Catherine was born May 13, 1934 to Jesse B. and Rosa Wallace Smith. She was a lifetime resident of Perry County, and worked for the Alabama Cooperative Extension Service for 40 years. She was an active member of Hopewell Baptist Church, Marion Garden Club, and the Perry County Alumni Association. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Bertie Mae Crim, and brothers J.D. Smith, Thomas Allen Smith, and Charles William Smith. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, James Elwyn Brady; daughter Renee Hubbard (Kenny); son, Brad Brady (Elizabeth); grandchildren, Daniel Hubbard, David Hubbard, Matthew Brady, and Lindsay Brady; brothers Bobby Smith (Shirley), and John Smith (Diane). Pallbearers will be Daniel Hubbard, David Hubbard, Matthew Brady, Jamie Brady, Chris Hamm, Brady Colburn, and Paul Wheeler. The family would like to thank her devoted caregiver, Julia Washington, Comfort Care Hospice of Demopolis, Patty Ingram, Dr. Paul Moore of Montgomery Cardiovascular Associates, and the many friends and neighbors who offered support over the past year. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hopewell Cemetery Fund, 151 Weaver Rd, Marion, AL 36756 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
