Robert Curtis Garrett

Mr. Robert Curtis Garrett, Sr. of Banks, AL passed away Friday, October 20, 2017 at Troy Health and Rehab. He was 88. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 22, 2017 at Ramah Baptist Church with Rev. Averyt Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Ramah Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Honors, Skeen Funeral Home of Troy directing. The family will receive friends Sunday at the church one hour prior to the services. He was born March 14, 1929 to the late Charlie Curtis and Susie Bessie Long Garrett. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army. He also was a barber in Brundidge for many years. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Lorene Danner Garrett, siblings, William Buford Garrett, Ruby Ingram, Arlie Franklin Garrett, Walter Garrett and Mary Gullate. He is survived by his children Robert Curtis Garrett, Jr. (Debbie), Gilbert Purry Garrett (Dajuna Tatom ), Susanne Garrett Adams (Dennis) and Sharon Garrett Wilkins (David); wife; Ruth Gregory Garrett; step children, Ronnie Gregory (Cathy), Faye Allen (Ray), Julie Downing (Steve), and Vicky Green (Ronnie); grandchildren, Trudi Miller (Jeremie), Robert Curtis Garrett III (Nikki), Robert Dale Garrett, Lori Peavy, Kayla Sexton (Josh), Kaitlin Foster (Alan), Rachel Tatom, Tate Tatom, Chelsey Adams Roberts (Matt), Adrienne Maddox (Jarett), Justin Adams (Kayla Blalock), Anna Wilkins and Connor Wilkins; 16 great grandchildren; 8 step grandchildren; 11 step great grandchildren; 1 step great-great grandchild; siblings, Susie Mae Elmore, Janette Wesley, Grover Garrett (Mary Black), and Ruth Henderson; brother-in-law, Jack Gullatte and a special niece Carol Barr (Arlie). The family wants to thank the staff of Troy Health and Rehab for their care the last 6 years. Serving as pallbearers will be Josh Sexton, Alan Foster, Tate Tatom, Curt Garrett, Dale Garrett, Connor Wilkins and Arlie Barr.
