Allen Norris

Allen Waite Norris, age 73, passed away peacefully at home on Aug 12, 2019 after a 5 year battle with cancer. He was born in Ogden, Utah on December 5, 1945 to Dwain W. and Wilda Waite Norris. He enjoyed his early childhood years growing up at the motel his parents owned in Phoenix. He liked to play shuffle board and play games with the guests. He spent his summers working with his father and grandfather on the ranch in Randolph, Utah cutting and stacking the hay. He attended 3 elementary schools: Wilson, Creighton, and Squaw Peak. He graduated from Camelback High School in 1964 and earned a BS in accounting from ASU. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the West Mexican Mission. He married Nancy Mecham on January 24, 1969 in the Mesa Arizona Temple. During the next 23 years they were blessed with 9 children. Allen loved being a dad and especially enjoyed working with his hands. He did a lot of woodworking with his boys. He enjoyed being involved in scouting and earned the rank of an Eagle. Each of his boys have also earned the Eagle rank. Allen’s work career was spent at Kitchell Corporation doing accounting for 10 years and then for the next 28 years he worked in the IT department doing financial programming. After retiring in 2008 they moved to Minersville, Utah where they lived for ten years. In September 2018 they moved back to Mesa. Allen and Nancy served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Family and Church History Headquarters Mission in Salt Lake City, Utah. He served actively in the church throughout his life and had worked as an ordinance worker in the St. George Temple. Allen is survived by his wife of 50 years, Nancy Mecham Norris and their 9 children: Shannon (Teresa) Norris of Mesa, Charlene (Jacob) Pope of Salt Lake City, Utah, Dwain (Anita) Norris of Spanish Fork, Utah, Angela (Joe) Holcomb of Kalispell, Montana, Eugene (Brooke) Norris of Mesa, David (Lucia) Norris of Mesa, Quinn (Anjuli) Norris of Mesa, Chad (Amanda) Norris of Mesa and Brianne Norris of Austin, Texas; 38 grandchildren, and one sister, RaQuelle “Kelly” (Earl) Owens of Lakeside, Arizona.
