Jerry Rychlyk Gilbert, Arizona Obituary

Jerry Rychlyk

Jerry Rychlyk, age 75, left this world to join his parents and older brother in Heaven on June 21, 2019. Born in Hamburg, Germany on March 8, 1944 to Julia and Wasyl Rychlyk, he immigrated to the United States at six years old, speaking no English. He graduated from Ithaca High School in 1962. Jerry served his country honorably as a medic in Vietnam. Jerry is survived by his two daughters, four grandchildren, and his younger sister. Jerry and his family moved to Arizona in 1971. He worked his way up the ranks in the United States Post Office, starting as a truck driver, until he retired in the early 2000s. He loved driving his truck. Even after being promoted to a supervisor, he made sure to buy a truck so he could drive one every day. His hobbies included golf, bowling, and spending time with his grandchildren, especially at Disneyland. He took his daughters to Disney every year when they were little and loved carrying on the tradition with his grandchildren. He was a rollercoaster enthusiast and was always thrilled to visit Six Flags. Jerry spent every Sunday of football season cheering on the Raiders and the Giants. He loved to go to Arizona State games with his daughters. A creature of habit at heart, he ate breakfast at the same Denny’s every morning for years. Jerry was a natural born supervisor. He loved to stand outside with a beer in his hand and “help” with any yard work or manual labor. He laughed hard and often and was loved by everyone around him.
