Linda "Catlady" DuFour Lake Havasu City, Arizona Obituary

Linda "Catlady" DuFour

Linda “Catlady" Dufour, 66, passed away on August 19, 2016 after a rigorous fight with breast cancer, in Lake Havasu City, AZ. She was born on October 13, 1949 in Detroit, Michigan to Henry and Dorothy Easterhouse. Linda lived in Detroit until graduation and then went on to attend Michigan State University, where she studied for one year. She then hitched a ride to California, where she lived for 26 years in Santa Cruz. She married Jean Claude and raised her two sons, Jonathan and Taj on a small farm without electricity or running water, milking four goats twice daily and growing an organic garden. She worked for the County of Santa Cruz for 15 years, driving dump trucks and enjoying working outside. During this time, she enjoyed winning two tanning contests on the beach, Miss Tropic Blend as well as Miss Hawaiian Tropics. She put on the Nostalgia Nights for over 10 years at the Skyview Drive In. Her love of cars and driving, put her on the dirt track in Watsonville and San Jose, racing in the enduros and doing very well at something she loved. After retiring, she moved to Lake Havasu in 1999 and happily worked for Walmart for 3 years, where she sold cameras and worked in the Sporting Goods Dept. and wound up rescuing a baby skunk, who was venturing into the store. “Lilac” stayed with her for 5 years, until she finally realized she was a skunk and not a cat. Linda worked for the Humane Society, caring for the cats there until she began “Strictly for Cats”, which provided grooming just for cats. Linda enjoyed hiking to Supai, kayaking, collecting rocks in the desert and just about everything Lake Havasu. She volunteered for the LH Drag racing Assoc. and loved the idea of a drag strip being built in her town. Linda loved all of her kind friends in LHC and valued them as family. Linda is survived by her sons, Jonathan and Taj Dufour of Santa Cruz, CA.; daughters-in-law, Cori and Amy Dufour; adored granddaughters, Payton and Skylar; her loving cats; lovebirds and kangaroo mouse, who were everything to her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Dorothy. Graveside “Green Burial” will be held at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at 10:30 AM with Chaplain Sandra Johnson officiating. Linda was very excited to have the first “Green Burial” in Lake Havasu City. Contributions can be made to “Alley Cats Allies” or “Best Friends in Utah”, in lieu of flowers.
