Georgia McCarty Obituary

MCCARTY, Georgia Ruth died on May 13, 2017. She was born in Los Angeles, CA, on February 24, 1936. She attended school in southern and northern CA and attended community college in southern CA. As a teenager, she volunteered to clean stables in return for riding privileges. She loved horses and enjoyed riding. She was a dance teacher for a few years at Arthur Murray Studios in Oklahoma City and in Sacramento. She also bred Scotties for a number of years and showed them. She then went to work at California State University in Los Angeles for ten years. Her following position was at the chancellor's office as an administrator until her retirement in 1989. After moving to Tucson in 1995, she and her husband became mall walkers at the Tucson Mall, where they made numerous friends. During retirement she enjoyed preparing newsletters for several organizations. She and her husband traveled extensively to Europe and took several cruises. She was an avid reader, and had a wide collection of books; she also loved watching classic movies on TV. Georgia will be missed by her many friends and she felt fortunate to have such wonderful neighbors. In her final years while suffering with COPD, she enjoyed the company of her little dog, Maddie, who was a stray before being adopted. She is survived by husband, Maurice McCarty; cousins in IL, AZ, and VA: sister-in-law, Dianne Preston, Palm Coast, FL and stepson, Alan McCarty and wife, Joannie. Arrangements entrusted to ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel (742-7901).
