Mildred Till Obituary

Mildred "Billie" Till January 7, 1915 - October 27, 2017 Billie Till lived a full and blessed life, almost 103 years, loving God and family above all else. Always positive and cheerful, she was a believer in the goodness of life and an inspiration to all who knew and loved her. She fully embraced Psalm 118.24 “This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice in it and be glad”. She prayed continuously for the health, happiness and spirituality of family and friends. Her Rosary Beads never left her side. Faith was the cornerstone of her life. Billie's husband Hank died in 1983 and their 43 years of marriage gave her a lifetime's worth of love and happy memories: dancing in Manhattan, swimming at Ravenhall's and Jones Beach, experiencing life in Colorado and Texas during WWII, hiking, boating and skiing at Saranac Lake and Lake George, and three road trips to National Parks all across America. Her children, Tricia and Bob, and their spouses, Don and Jane, brought her endless happiness and pride. She was an incredible Grandmother to Kelly, Mike (Jen), Bill (Liz), Lindsay (Neil), Jason (Annie), Kaitlin and Jacqueline; and Great Grandmother to Dexter and Teddy. She signed every card to her grandchildren, “God Loves you and so does Grandma/Grams". When not involved with family, most of Billie's time was spent on faith based activities. She was an active member in all her parishes. While raising her family she was the leader of her Block Rosary Society and President of the Parish Rosary Society at St. Brigid Catholic Church in Westbury, NY. When Billie and Hank retired to Marshalls Creek, PA, she became a Hospitality Minister at St. Matthews. After moving to Oro Valley, AZ in 1996 she joined the St. Odilia Catholic Community where she she helped with church decor, took part in Bible Study and Renew 2000. Her final parish was Santa Catalina Catholic Church where she always sat in the front pew to be sure to hear the awesome music and see God's beauty in her favorite mountains. Billie loved sports all her life: handball, volleyball and gymnastics as a young woman and golf as an adult. She was a Founding Member of the Mountain Manor Woman’s Golf Association in Marshalls Creek, PA and is still the only one of our family and friends to make a hole in one. And not just once but twice! She would often ask, “Do you think there is golf in heaven?” She was a lifelong Notre Dame football fan and stood to sing the fight song when they scored. Go Irish! The funeral will be on December 9, 2017 at St. Brigid Catholic Church in Westbury, NY where she was a parishioner for many years. The Rite of Committal is at St. John Cemetery in Middle Village, New York. In lieu of flowers please make a donation, in memory of Mildred Till, to Catholic Community Services of Southern Arizona. Mother, we will always cherish you and try our very best to emulate your beautiful, God inspired, other-centered life. Remember “God loves you and so do we”. Rest in Peace.
