Allen Smith Sun City, Arizona Obituary

Allen Smith

Allen Lee Smith, 89 Peoria, Arizona – Allen Lee Smith passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 16th. During his final days, he was surrounded by family and loved ones. Allen was born on October 1st, 1930 in Ashtabula, Ohio to Clarence and Jane Smith. Allen served honorably in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years and travelled the world before settling in Phoenix, Arizona upon his military retirement. Allen then served as a member of the Phoenix Fire Department for many years until he retired from there. Al (as his friends called him) spent the rest of his years devoting his time to family, golf (where his best club was always a foot wedge) and the many other hobbies that made him happy. Allen was a great fan of vintage cars and collected many models of his favorites. He also did the same with vintage airplanes which would explain his service in the Air Force. This of course was counter intuitive as Al hated to fly. He also loved his dogs especially Cocker Spaniels and Boxers and never passed up the opportunity to sneak them a treat, or two, or three. Allen was survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary Ann Smith and a blended family of children, Mark Smith, John Kwiecien, Mary Sue Anderson, Robin Jones and Linda Kappelmann, his son in law, Thomas Kappelmann, his grand kids, Stephanie, Beau, Edward, Samantha, and Nicolas, and his great grand kids, Justice, Adonis, Kylee and Hailey. Allen was preceded in death by his parents Clairence and Jane Smith, and sons, Kent Smith and Michael Kwiecien.
