Alma Amodei Obituary

Alma “Allie” Teresa Olsen entered Heaven’s gates on September 6, 2016. She was born on October 31, 1927 to Katherine and Sigvald Olsen in Tarrytown, New York. Married for 65 years, she was the mother of eight children, four boys and four girls. She was the grandmother of 15 and great grandmother of 16. Alma worked in a dress factory, a bakery, and in retail all while raising eight children. Alma began writing poetry as a young girl and continued throughout her life. Her poetry reflects her faith, experiences, her feelings about her family, and her belief in our country. She has received the World of Poetry Golden Award, an Award of Merit Certificate as well as multiple Editor’s Choice Awards and Outstanding Achievement Awards. In 2015 she achieved her lifelong dream and published “My Life, My Poetry” a compilation of her works, written as early as age fourteen. She became very active in her community, organizing activities at her assisted living facility. As a contestant of the 2015 Ms. Senior Arizona Pageant, Alma claimed the title of “Ms. Moxie” and was the favorite of all the 23 contestants. She lived life with a poetic heart, and was blessed with a beautiful family. We will forever keep her close to our hearts, and her words will remain the whispers of angels. Her love of family, love of country and love of life let us know we have all her love, all our lives.
