Obituary

Archie "Bud" Elvy Doss Jr. went Home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 3, 2015.

The youngest of eight children, Archie was born on January 21, 1944 to Archie (Sr.) and Myrtle Doss in Independence, Kansas. He moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1963 and attended Arizona State University. Upon graduation with a bachelor degree in political science, Archie joined the United States Marine Corps and served in Vietnam where he earned multiple medals and achieved the rank of Captain.

After leaving the military, Archie was involved in a wide range of careers during his lifetime. As an entrepreneur, he started multiple businesses: wrought iron, floor covering, construction, and drafting and estimating companies – with his favorite being auctioneering. "Bud" had a knack for being able to sell just about anything to anyone and even tried his hand at local politics. Life with Archie was never dull. Ever light-hearted, Archie never took things too seriously and approached everything he did with an air of humor.

Just like his many careers, Archie had a wide range of interests as well. In his spare time you could usually find him on the tennis court, at a garage sale, or at an auction. He played softball and coached his daughters' teams, studied genealogy, and loved ASU football.

Archie is survived by his wife Linda and his three daughters and sons in law; Kymm and Eric Schultz, Michelle and Aaron Ashley, and Malissa and Raymond Utter, as well as seventeen grandchildren and their spouses. Also surviving him are five of his siblings and a brother and sister in law: Bill Doss, Bob and DiAnn Doss, Joann and Leon Shook, Jeanie Dougan, and Dollie Humes.

Archie loved God first, then his country, his family, playing tennis, and watching ASU football.
