Barney Lynn

Barney Lynn, born December 8th 1953, March Air Force Base, Riverside, California, passed Away on Sunday, August 4th , 2019 at his home in Sun City, Arizona after a very long battle with heart and liver failure. He peacefully passed away in his sleep. Barney was the third child and second oldest son of Donald Hugh Lynn and Sylvia Marie Pattinson. His step-father was James Elmer Smith. Preceded in death by his parents, step-father, two brothers {Kris Lynn of Las Vegas and Mark (Sharon) Lynn of Pipe Creek, TX)} As a sad note: His brother, Mark, and his wife, Sharon, both died within 3 months of each other. Barney’s biological father was in the Air force, so the family moved and traveled extensively. Barney enjoyed the outdoors and watching, with fascination, large machinery at use. He enjoyed travel and seeing the world (as proved by his enlistment in the Navy) and was assigned to the Nuclear Cruiser South Carolina and stationed on the east coast during his enlistment as Petty Officer 2nd Class. After his honorable discharge, he moved to Oregon and enrolled in Oregon State University receiving a degree in Industrial Arts. After college, Barney relocated to Washington State and worked for Lanier Brugh Trucking Company. He transferred to USF Reddaway Trucking and worked for thirty years in the industry. Barney greatly enjoyed genealogy and studying history. Barney was previously married to Donna Tucker Clark and adopted her 3 children (Brandon, Melissa and Daniel) in 1983 in Seattle. After a divorce in 2004, Barney met his sweetheart online at an LDS single’s website and in June 2005 Barney and Pamela were married and were sealed for time and all eternity in the St George, Utah LDS Temple. They lived in New Harmony, UT and St George, UT before retiring in Sun City, AZ to be near Pamela’s sons, daughters-in-law and grandchildren. They were married for 14 years before Barney’s “graduation”. Barney was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in several callings such as Stake Missionary, Sunday School President and High Priest Group Assistant . He leaves behind his eternal companion, Pamela Tobey Lynn …..his daughter Melissa (Matt) Helgeson and son Daniel Lynn Clark of Ammon, ID ... son Brandon (Errin) Lynn Clark of Seattle…..Two brothers, Keith Lynn of Las Vegas and half-brother Tommie Addison of Hastings, Nebraska .....Two sisters, Tracy (Louie) Villalobos & Lynda Gantt (Jerry Stein) of Santa Maria, California…..Stepsons David (Lauren) Tobey & Jeffery (Shira) Tobey of Phoenix and cousin Tammy of California. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and grandchildren. Services will be held at the Sun City LDS Ward Building (13014 N 108th Avenue - off Grand Ave) Saturday, August 10, 2019 @ 11:00 a.m. Viewing and greeting from 10:00-10:45 before the Services. Many thanks to Regency Mortuary for their gentle guidance through a difficult time. Interment will be at the National Military Memorial Cemetery of Arizona on Monday August 12, 2019 @ 10:30 a.m. (23029 Cave Creek Road, Phx, AZ 85024 ---Go North on Cave Creek Rd to Pinnacle Peak Rd, turn East on Pinnacle Peak Rd and go ¼ mile. Cemetery is on the right.) We would like to thank Barney’s many doctors within Honor Health who treated him these past 5 years and for Shanti and Dignity Hospice providers who cared so lovingly for him in the 9 ½ months before his “graduation”. We also wish to express our gratitude to family, friends and Ward Members for your many kindnesses in thought and deed.
