Charles Brock Obituary

Charles Edward Brock, age 74, of Phoenix Arizona, passed away Sunday the 6th of August 2017 after a long battle with prostate cancer. Charles was born in our nation's capital, Washington D.C. on May 14, 1943 to to Louie and Dorothy Tazelaar Brock. He was wed to Florence Konzal on July 7th 1962 and together they raised three sons: Adam, Michael, and Kevin. They celebrated their 55th wedding Anniversary this past July just one month before Charles went to be with the Lord. Charles graduated from Suitland High School in Prince George's County, Maryland. After high school he served in the U.S. Navy where he remained employed for 22 years. He obtained a Bachelor's degree from the University of New York, Regents college during this time. His Naval career took him to many different states and countries over the years. Although he enjoyed moving around and seeing different parts of the world, he eventually settled in Bowie, Maryland where he and Florence raised their sons. He retired from the service in 1982 and continued to work for the government as a calibration specialist at Fort Meade, Maryland. In his later years, he and Florence moved across the country from Bowie, Maryland all the way to Phoenix, Arizona to enjoy their retirement together. Charles was an active member of his church, Harvest Assembly of God, where he served as a commander for the Royal Rangers boys' group for many years. He enjoyed a variety of outdoor activities, and he was able to attend many camp outs and events with his grandson, Elijah Brock, in Northern Arizona. He participated in the Pinewood Derby yearly, and he spent much of his own time helping the Ranger boys make their cars just right. He was a skilled handyman and could fix just about anything! He always tried his hardest to be a good mentor to the boys, and he touched many of their lives along the way. Other hobbies he enjoyed include stamp and coin collecting, swimming in his pool, watching old movies, and spending time with his family. Charles is survived by his wife Florence Brock, of Phoenix, Arizona; His three sons and their wives: Adam and Donette (Wilson) Brock of Bowie, Maryland; Michael and Christal (Powers) Brock of Severn, Maryland; and Kevin and Jodi (Robidoux) Brock of Phoenix, Arizona; Eleven grandchildren of whom he was so proud: the children of Michael and Christal Brock: Joshua Brock (15) and Sierra Brock (1 1/2) residing in Severn, Maryland.
