Charles Flower, 84 Charles Raymond Flower of Kent, Ohio, passed away Sunday May 29 2016 in Sun City, Arizona. A Remembrance Ceremony will be held at the Regency Mortuary in Sun City, Arizona on June 6th at 6:00 PM with Reverend Jon Jennings officiating. Charles was born in Kent, Ohio to Charles and Charlotte Flower on October 27, 1931. Charles graduated Theodore Rosevelt High School in Kent, Ohio 1949 and was drafted into the U.S. Army Signal Corps in 1955. Charles was eventually stationed at Redstone Aersenal in Huntsville Alamaba where he taught missile Radar Guidance. After leaving the Army Charles worked for General Electric at Cape Kennedy as a Radar Guidance Engineer and was responisblefor the manned radar guidance of both the Mercury and Gemini programs, along with a number of unmanned satellite launches.Charles was transferred to Vandenberg, AFB in 1976 where he finished out his long career with General Electric, and later Martin Marietta. Charles retired in 1997 with over 40 years with General Electric/Martin Marietta. Charles was an avid tennis player for many years in California, both in Sanata Maria and later Eureka. In 2010 Charles moved from California to the Phoenix area to be closer to family. Charles settled in Sun City and became a very skilled and avid pickle ball player, playing seven days a week until recently. Charles is precdeded in death by his former wife Frances; his parents Charles and Charolette; and his brothers Frank and Horace and sisters Lillian Lewis, Marian Barry, Florence McDivitt, Marjory Kenward and Maxine Seifer. Charles is survived by his children, Steven (Lori) Flower, Beverly (Thomas) Hammar and William (Michelle) Flower, and grandchildren Zachary Flower, Skyler and Tyler Hammar, Scott, Alex, Emily Flower, and Allen Flower and Britany Hypes, along with great-grandchildren Reagan and Hannah Flower, and Kaden and Kylie Hypes.
