David Hervey

David Lawrence Hervey, born August 18, 1941, went home to our Lord June 28, 2016 after a long illness with courage, dignity and fortitude. Preceded in death by father Marshall, mother Dorothy and sister Martha. Survived by his wife of 51 years, Roberta, children John (Tammy), Deborah, Angela, Sara (Brennan), 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grand-children, and brother John. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many and longtime member of the Northwest Church of Christ, David’s laughing eyes, smile and delightful wit and wisdom will be deeply missed but not forgotten. A brilliant physicist, David graduated from the University of Minnesota as one of just five percent who graduated from the original class over 400 students. David and Bee raised their family in a variety of states, including Minnesota, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, Utah and Colorado before settling in Arizona. A gifted athlete in his youth, avid sailor, voracious reader, he always opened his heart and home for family and others. A good listener, humble and kind man with the patience of Job, David never lost his sense of humor. David made manifest the psalm, “He has given us instances of his goodness in every thing that concerns us; so that turn which way we will, we meet with the tokens of his favor.” A Celebation Service will be at Northwest Church of Christ, 5110 Union Hills, Glendale, AZ at 1:00 p.m.
