Dennis Clay Obituary

Dennis was born May 21st 1957 in Naval Hospital located in Charleston, SC. He was born to Leonard and Louise R. Clay. His education began at Columbus St. Elementary and continued on to Charleston High School. Being a gifted and talented student, the school administration team felt that he was too advanced for their curriculum, so as a senior the district sent him to the College of Charleston. He then attended Citadel Military College of SC for ROTC training and then entered into the Air Force on December 14th 1978. After boot camp he was stationed at England Air Force Base in Alexandria, LA. and attended Louisiana State University. It was there that he met the mother of his first child Tinika and relocated to Arizona where he was stationed at Luke Air Force Base. While living in Arizona Dennis sold insurance for the beginning years of his residency, received an associate’s degree from Phoenix College for Computer Information Systems and also obtained a B.S. in Computer Programming at Arizona State University. It was during these years that he had three more children; Briana, Devyn and Joshua Clay. Dennis enjoyed fishing, Star Trek, 49ers, the Chicago Bulls, traveling, white zinfandel (when he did have a cocktail), taking pictures, scuba diving, sky diving, spending time with his dog Simba, watching his granddaughter Treasure (Tinika and Toni’s puppy), visiting with family & friends and having a grape soda. He will always be remembered for his big smile, giving personality and smart nature (and let’s not forget his stubbornness). Dennis leaves to cherish his precious memories: mother Louise R. Clay; children Tinika (Toni), Briana, Devyn and Joshua; siblings Leonard, Bernard, Debra (Victor), Jana, Sheila (Santel), Kim, Mark, Michael (DeEtte); great-aunt Blanche; and a host of other family and friends. John 14:27-29 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. You heard me say to you, ‘I am going away, and I will come to you.’ If you loved me, you would have rejoiced, because I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. And now I have told you before it takes place, so that when it does take place you may believe.
