Dennis DeVisscher Obituary

Dennis G. DeVisscher, 67, passed away quietly on April 10, 2015 in Sun City West, AZ after a courageous battle with ALS. He was born In Bellingham, WA on April 9, 1948 to George A and Maxine A. DeVisscher (Gates) and raised in the Whatcom County area. He married Tanna Alderson on December 5, 1981. He was preceded in death by his father, George, his mother Maxine and his brother Terry DeVisscher. He is survived by his wife, Tanna and a step daughter, Karen Alderson, his beloved dog Buddy, along with several extended family members and countless friends. He attended Bellingham High School and graduated in 1967 in the last and largest class before the city divided the high schools into 2 different regions. He was a jack of trades and worked in the car dealer industry, construction, title and escrow and banking before retiring. He was a diehard Washington Husky fan and rarely missed a game over the last 33 years. For years Dennis and Tanna traveled to Mazatlán, Mexico along with friends For 40 plus years, his second love was softball and was deeply passionate of his love for remodeling old homes for resale. He was always there when you needed him and could fix anything exceptionally well. Denny and Tanna, after retirement, purchased their second home in Sun City West in June 2008 and traveled back and forth as snowbirds until the time of his death. He was widely respected, admired and loved especially for his witty sense of humor by all- that who knew him and the love of animals. One of his best friends was Buddy the dog, who he adopted in Feb1uary 2014. Buddy's name was Snowflake and Denny immediately renamed him Buddy as he stated no male dog of his would have such a name. He was amazing man and will be missed by many. A Celebration of Life will be held at Greenacres Memorial Park in Ferndale, WA.
