Eileen Brockett

Eileen May Brockett, from Glendale, Arizona, passed away on May 18 th , 2019. She was born in Sterling, Colorado on December 21, 1933 to Ivan & Beulah Nash. Her younger brother Lyle was born in Nov. of 1937. Growing up, Eileen lived in various towns in Colorado and Kansas. She married her first husband, John Pinner, in October of 1949 in Sterling. Together, they had 6 children - David, Linda, Joseph, Sandra, Carol, and Randolph. They moved to Phoenix, AZ in November of 1963. During the years she lived in Phoenix, she worked several years at W.T. Grants as an office manager. In December of 1972, John and Eileen divorced. After the divorce, Eileen moved back to Denver, CO, and began working at Montgomery Wards in retail sales. In May of 1986, she finally met the true ‘love of her life’, Robert (Bob) Brockett. Bob was very well liked by all of Eileen’s family and friends. They were married in May of 1995 in Littleton, CO. Together Bob and Eileen did a lot of traveling to all parts of the United States, including San Diego, Branson, Las Vegas, Mt. Rushmore, Minneapolis, Seattle, New York City, Hawaii, Disneyland, Phoenix, and a cruise to the Caribbean. They were both big sports fans, especially of the Denver Broncos. In January of 1998, they attended Super Bowl XXXII in San Diego, where they saw the Broncos defeat the Green Bay Packers, 31-24. Eileen and Bob enjoyed volunteering and did so with AA, Al-Anon, and at Denver International Airport. They loved going to movies, plays, and concerts. They shared their lives with many friends. Unfortunately, Eileen’s time with Bob came to an end when he passed away from cancer in May of 2008. After Bob passed, Eileen continued to work for the Colorado Safety Association, where she helped set up meetings, various training seminars, and traveled to many safety conferences. She also joined a local chapter of the Red Hats Society, (a playgroup for women created to connect like-minded women enrich their lives through the power of fun and friendship”) who could always be recognized by their red hats and purple outfits. Eventually, she became the ‘Queen’ (leader) of their chapter, where she organized meetings, luncheons, and trips. She was also very good at scrapbooking and kept photos, newspaper articles, and brochures of every major event and place that she and Bob traveled to. She loved Elvis, country & western, and early rock & roll. Her favorite holiday was always Christmas because she baked, decorated her home, and loved to make candles. She loved to dress-up, so she always looked her best whenever she went out. Eileen was also very good at being able to put her thoughts on paper, and therefore she wrote a lot about her life. In November of 2015, she made the decision to move back to Phoenix to be closer to most of her family. She lived there until her passing on May 18, 2019. Eileen is proceeded in death by her husband Robert (Bob) Brockett, parents Ivan & Beulah Nash, brother Lyle Nash, and his wife Carolyn, niece Jackie (Nash) O’Connor, friends Gary and Evva Harding, son-in-law Dana Reed, and her first husband, John Pinner. She is survived in death by her children, David Pinner (Mary), Linda Bartholomew (Terry), Joseph Pinner (Colleen), Sandra Reed, Carol Pope (Daryl), and Randolph Pinner (Rosa). Also, a brother-in-law, Dion Brockett (Sue), a nephew, Terry Nash (Christie), a niece, Pam (Nash) Dever (Kevin), and a son-in-law, Wayne Lucas. She also leaves behind 20 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. Eileen was loved by so many family and friends and will certainly be missed.
