Eva Greene Obituary

Eva Sue Greene, 85, passed away on June 6, 2017 in Sun City, Arizona. Eva Sue was born in Sikeston, Missouri, on October 21, 1931 to William Franklin Johnson and Felcia Lee Wright. At the age of five, she moved with her family to Mesa, Arizona, where she grew up and graduated from Mesa High School. In 1962, she became acquainted with her beloved Joseph Greene when they were seated on the same aisle on a flight to California, and two years later their legendary romance began. Eva Sue and Joe lived in Washington, DC, Hawaii, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina through the course of Joe’s military career, as well as completing an LDS church mission to South Africa together. Eva Sue was beloved in each location, spending her time, talents, efforts, and love in the service of those around her. With no children of her own, she became a guardian angel and tireless supporter of her siblings, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She moved to Arizona with Joseph in 2012 to be nearer to her brother, Robert Lee Johnson, and his wife Susan, both of whom assisted her in caring for Joseph—a goal she carried out to the end of mortality. She was a true Southern belle and mothering angel to all who she saw in need. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 9 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Sun City Ward, 13014 N. 108th Avenue, Sun City, Arizona 85351, followed by a graveside service at Greenwood Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix, Arizona.
