Helene Baysa

Baysa, Helene Maile (Mickey) 76, wife, mother, friend, and mentor, passed away in Glendale, Arizona on Sunday, June 12th 2016. Helene was born to William Meyers, Jr. and Chiyo Okamoto in Hilo, Hawaii on August 7th 1939. She earned both a Bachelor and a Masters degree in Psychology from Brigham Young University before moving to California where she met up again with her childhood sweetheart, Maurice Kaonohiokala Baysa. They married and eventually settled in Arizona to raise their family. Helene worked at Greenway High School as the bookstore manager for many years. At Greenway she made countless friends with both the students and faculty. She was also an active participant within her local and religious communities where she had a positive impact on all she encountered. Helene is survived by her three children; Toni Spears, Mark Baysa, and Lee Noelani Fasoldt, and 7 grandchildren, as well as many other family loved ones and friends. A memorial service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints church building located at 5250 W. Thunderbird Road, Glendale, AZ 85306, Saturday, June 18th 2016 - visitation with family from 5:00PM to 6:00PM and Service from 6:00PM to 7:00PM. Funeral services will also be held at the Kilauea LDS Ward Chapel, 522 Ponahawai Street, Hilo HI 96720 with a visitation prior to the services from 9:00 - 11:00 am. Burial will follow at the Veterans Cemetery #2 in Hilo, Hawaii.
