Jean Rochelle Dieterich Obituary

Shelley, 79, passed away quietly, on November 26, 2015, at home in Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents George and Dorothy Kite; brother Roger “Bud” Kite; and husband Roger A. Dieterich. Shelley is survived by her sister Ravonda Zimmerman (Dale); sons Bryan (Sandy) and Jeff (Mary Kay); her four grandchildren Sarah, Gretchen, Travis, and Evan; niece Kristi Latimer (Mike), nephew Kevin Thomas (Kristi), and their wonderful families. Shelley was born July 3, 1936 in Beaver, Oklahoma. During her life, she had several careers. In 1955 she went to work in the Boeing Aircraft Company plant in Wichita, KS. She then went on to work for TWA as a flight attendant. Taking a break, she stayed home to raise her two sons. Shelley returned to work during the late 1970s as secretary to the principal at Thunderbird High School in Phoenix, AZ and later as secretary to the principal at Laredo Middle School in Aurora, CO. Through these jobs, and Roger’s career, she made wonderful friends with whom she enjoyed hours of Bridge, many birthday celebrations, and much laughter. She relocated to AZ several years after Roger’s death to be closer to son Jeff and his family. Shelley will always be remembered as a wonderful and devoted wife, caring mother, supportive and kind mother-in-law, beloved aunt, and doting grandmother. She was also a very gracious and caring friend. She loved to read, cook, and entertain. She kept a stylish and immaculate home, dressed impeccably, and was always available to friends and family in times of need. The family would like to thank the staff of Reflections Hospice Care for their services including the comfort, care, and spiritual support given to Shelley. The family also would like to extend a heartfelt thank you, in particular, to Alina Balos of Horizon Adult Care Home, for the extraordinary care, comfort, and love given to Shelley. In lieu of flowers, please consider a charitable gift to the Alzheimer’s Association at http://www.alz.org/.
