Loneta Merrell Obituary

Loneta Georgia Merrell (Auntie) A wonderful Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Aunt, Grandma, Great Grandma, and friend passed away February 2nd at age 93. Auntie was born January 6th 1921 in Picture, Oklahoma and moved to Arizona when she was ten. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Georgia Knight, brother Raymond Knight and Husband Ocie Randolph Merrell. She is survived by sister Lola (Fred) Miller, son John (Jeanie) Isaac. Her father was a miner and died in his forties from black lung disease. Auntie worked in a supervisory position in the Health Care industry -but still was deeply devoted in the well being and care for her mother daily. They enjoyed shopping, going to the movies and out to dinner a lot. Auntie and Ocie enjoyed their getaway home in Prescott Arizona, which they built together. She was used to being independent until heart issues developed in her early eighties, when she decided to give up driving. She didn’t like to sit idle and wanted to help and be on the go all of the time- until her body just got tired January 31st and could not go anymore. She will be deeply missed, but now happy to be with the family that passed before her. At her request she asked not to have funeral services, but to be cremated instead.
