Michael Lamb Obituary

Michael Dean Lamb was born on August 20, 1988 in Glendale, AZ to Terry Lynn Lamb and Janis Jeannine Gordon. He was the middle child of five born after brothers Daryl T. Gordon and Brandon L. Gordon and before sister Monica L. Lamb and brother Johnathan E. Lamb. He was the quiet child who always had a smile on his face, Michael was baptized at an early age at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Phoenix, Arizona and spent his early years at St. Paul preschool where his grandmother Linda Rodgers taught him, his brothers and eventually his younger sister and brother. This is where Michael began his spiritual walk. The family moved to Payson, AZ where Michael started the third grade. Michael quickly became involved in sports playing on Town of Payson basketball, soccer and baseball leagues and the family joined Mt. Cross Lutheran Church where Michael was involved in the youth group and Clown ministry. This is also the church where Michael was confirmed. At this time, Michael also met his best friend Russell Boyle and other close friends Larry, Shelton and Brad. They all became fast friends and were inseparable during their middle and high school years when Russell’s mother, Yolanda and his grandparents became a second family to Michael. In middle school Michael found his first love...football “because you can hit people and not get in trouble”. He played in 8th grade and throughout his high school years where his coach and teammates affectionately called him Lamb Chop. Growing up in Payson Michael learned to love the outdoors and mother nature. He was an avid outdoorsman, gun enthusiast and animal lover. After High School, Michael attended Barber School in Phoenix and became a licensed barber. Through cutting hair, Michael’s outgoing personality and passion for his craft made him many friends. Michael moved back to Phoenix in 2011 bringing along his family: Anne Welch, son Korbyn and dogs Jupiter and Armani . He continued his craft of barbering at Liberty Barbershop in El Mirage, Arizona where he quickly became friends with his coworkers and some of the regular clientele. During this time, Michael transitioned to a healthy lifestyle by going to the gym with his friends several times a week. He also took up riding the Harley Davidson he was buying from Russell’s dad up and down the hills of Payson. Michael said he never felt more free and at peace than when he was riding that bike For the past year Michael has been attending Christ Church of the Valley (CCV) in Surprise, Arizona, where he became involved in a small home group in Waddell and a men’s Bible study group. This is where his spiritual journey bloomed from a walk to a run. Michael was a great family man and was “such a good sport”. The family finds solace in the fact that Michael has run straight into the arms of Jesus. Michael leaves to cherish his memory: fiance Anne Welch, son Korbyn Cotton, dogs Armani and Jupiter. father Terry Lamb, mother Janis Gordon, grandfather Dennis Rodgers, grandmother Mary Lamb, brothers Daryl and Brandon Gordon, sister Monica Lamb, brother Johnathan Lamb, brother Russell Boyle, second mother Yolanda Boyle and a host of Uncles, Aunts, cousins and friends.
