In Loving Memory Myles P. Miller, 90, died on July 15, 2020 in Surprise, Arizona, formerly of the Harrisburg/Hershey PA area. He is survived by his wife, Lorna Mae Miller (Lentz) and daughter, Kim Walmer, her husband, Jack Walmer and son, Myles D. Miller, along with three grandchildren, Chad Walmer, Cambray Walmer, Julia Miller and one great grandchild, Jackson Miller. He has one surviving sibling, Frank Garrison Miller from New Jersey. His other four siblings, two sisters, Edna Lemmerman and Eleanor Selby and two brothers Charles and Louis Miller, precede him in death. Myles P. Miller was born on April 3, 1930 to Charles and Edna Miller in Camden, NJ. He served his country in the Navy during the Korean War and attended the Combs College of Music in Philadelphia, where he met his wife, Lorna Mae Lentz. He pursued his musical career as an acoustic bass player throughout the New Jersey and Philadelphia area before moving to Harrisburg, PA. After settling in Harrisburg, PA to raise a family, he became very active in the local music scene working with and playing music on most weekends, with several well established musicians, some who were founders of the Central PA Friends of Jazz organization in 1980, which he was active in for many years. At one time he was named the “Frank Sinatra of Harrisburg”, due to his singing style that was like his musical idol of the same name. He also partnered with his father-in-law, Luther Lentz, to help with mobile home sales and then opened his own business, Cap City in Harrisburg. After selling this business, he worked for the PA Liquor Control Board, before retiring with his wife to Surprise, Arizona. After moving to Surprise, Myles stayed active for many years in the Sun City Grand community, pursuing his musical passions, as the bassist for the “Grand Sounds Big Band”. He also played softball with various teams in the area, including the Wells Fargo Men’s Team for many years. Memorial donations may be made in Myles P.
