Nicholas Kapetan Obituary

Nick Kapetan passed away due to lymphoma on July 5, 2015 at his home in Surprise, Arizona at the age of 72. He was born on September 18, 1942 in Washington D. C. to Kimon Kapetan and Mary Pappas Kapetan. The second oldest of four children, he spent most of his life in the Seattle, Washington area. He graduated from Lincoln High School and attended Shoreline Community College and the University of Washington. Nick married Ruth Close on December 30, 1984. They have one son, Kendahl Kapetan of Los Angeles, California. Most of Nick’s career was spent in the automobile and RV industry. He had recently reentered the real estate field. Nothing was more important to Nick than his family. He enjoyed entertaining, cooking, and gardening. A man of many interests, he was well read and taught himself nearly all of the construction trades. Favorite stories included his Marine Corps experience, crab fishing in the Bering Sea and going overboard, and learning to fly the Cardinal airplane. Despite aggressive treatments and certain side effects, Nick never once complained. He was forever appreciative of the love and kindness shown to him by many, and in particular his church family. Nick is survived by his wife and his son, and his brothers Gus and Tony Kapetan. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Sophia Johnson. A Memorial Service is planned for Nick at Grand Community Baptist Church in Surprise later this summer. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations or memorials go to Quitman Cemetery Association, C/O Mary Porter, 12515 215th St., Burlington Jct., Mo. 64428-8224
