Peter Borho Obituary

PETER JAMES BORHO-passed away on October 10, 2019. He had just turned 70 a little over two weeks earlier. Peter was one of a kind. He was frequently described as “vibrant.” He had a goofy, contagious smile, and loved to make people laugh. He had a real lust for life and love for friends and family. He leaves behind a hole in many hearts and will be deeply missed. Peter led a rich life. He loved to play sports. He even met his wife at a volleyball tournament, and later proposed to her over the loudspeaker at a volleyball game. He especially loved softball, and played on teams in Portland and Redmond, Oregon, as well as Sun City, Arizona. His softball family gave Peter much joy. His love of adventure led him to travel quite a bit. Highlights included trips to Fiji, Tahiti, Australia and New Zealand. He was especially fond of his experiences skydiving and rafting down a 21 foot waterfall in New Zealand. He also loved to bike. Many adventures were related to participating in Cycle Oregon, Bridge Pedal, and biking on vacations. Peter served in the Navy from 1969-73 at the Naval Air Station North Island in Coronado, CA. Peter had many jobs in his lifetime. He relished in telling people he had been a grave digger, and often told stories about his days as a traveling photographer. His main jobs were working as a hardwood floor manager, and at the Department of Motor Vehicles, where he primarily served as a manager and lead worker for nearly 20 years. He enjoyed working part time at ACE Hardware for several years after retiring. Peter was born on September 21, 1949 in Warren, Ohio and grew up and lived in Portland, Oregon for most of his life. He was preceded in death by his late parents, James Borho and Marie Borho, brother Mark, and brother-in-law Joe Walyer. He leaves behind his beloved wife and friend for life, Lisa (Plummer) Borho, and three siblings: Janet (Borho) Walyer, Paul Borho (Barbara Ortega), and Timothy Borho (Sue Borho), as well as niece Sabrina (Walyer) Sheehy (Scott Sheehy), and his beloved great nieces Julia and Celia, whom he adored as if they were his own grandchildren. Services will be held at 4:00pm MST on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Sun City Christian Church. The address is: 9745 W Palmeras Drive, Sun City, AZ 85373. Casual attire is encouraged. Please celebrate his legacy by wearing shorts, Hawaiian shirts and bright colors. There will be a dinner provided after the service, at which time we can share stories about Peter.
