Richard (Dick) M. Johnson, 88, died peacefully in his sleep on July 8th, 2020 in Sun City, AZ. He was born July 6, 1932 in Burlington, WI to Melvin and Esther Johnson of Wind Lake, WI. He graduated from high school in Waterford, WI as class vice president in 1950. He studied accounting, and used it to start careers in first retail and later as an insurance agent. He married Gertrude (Jonni) Mueller in 1956. Dick went on to become a well-respected insurance underwriter, active in professional associations. In 1973, he won the Man of the Year award from the Wisconsin Association of Life Underwriters. After 21 years in insurance, he moved on to an HR staff position at the University of Wisconsin-Extension where he stayed for an additional 16 years before retiring at 65. He enjoyed volunteering his time to help others, in both his own communities and farther, through the Lutheran Association of Missionaries and Pilots (LAMP) with his wife. It provided religious education to rural communities in Alaska and northern Canada. Dick and Gert (Jonni) raised 4 children together and enjoyed gardening, traveling, socializing, and being active in the Lutheran church. In 2000, Dick and Jonni moved to Sun City, AZ eventually residing at Royal Oaks where they enjoyed socializing with people from around the country. After Jonni's death in 2011 he entered into a spiritual marriage with Cara Lee Jungmeyer in 2013. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude. He is survived by Cara Lee Jungmeyer, his brother Warren (Carmen) Johnson, children- Karen (Ralph) Quamme, James (Athina) Johnson, Kathleen (Troy) Koboski and Kim Watson. eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Interment will take place July 2021 in Wind Lake, WI
