RUTH EMERSON Obituary

Ruth Parmelee Emerson, 91, of Sun City, Arizona, passed away January 26, 2016. She was born February 28, 1924 in Wyncote, Pennsylvania, to Ruth (Parmelee) and Rev. Clarence Clark Silvester. She attended Brattleboro High School in Brattleboro, Vermont, graduating in 1942. Following training to be a nurse at Orange Memorial Hospital in New Jersey, she became a Registered Nurse in September 1945. Ruth married Robert Niles Emerson on August 26, 1946. Her father, Rev. C. C. Silvester performed the marriage ceremony. Her hobbies included gardening, knitting, traveling, swimming, cards (bridge, in particular), skiing, and animals, especially cats and a Scottie, named Badger. Her travels with her husband included all 50 States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and France. After her husband retired from the Boeing Company, they made their home in Story, Wyoming. Winters, they commuted as “snow birds” to their condo in Sun City, AZ. She is survived by their children, Virginia (D. Fred) Marshall, Nancy Jane (Christopher Jay) Campbell and Beatrice (James Edward) Dull, 9 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her husband and 1 great grandchild. A burial ceremony will be held in June, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband, at Willow Grove Cemetery, in Buffalo, Wyoming. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to your local chapter of the Salvation Army, an organization that she regarded highly.
