Susan Greer

Sue "Susie" McCrea Greer, born in Macon, GA on May 27, 1956, passed on to Heaven on July 19, 2017. She grew up on Seaside Place, E. Norwalk. She was predeceased by her father, Samuel H. McCrea and her mother, Bervian McCrea. Her surviving family are Tim and Nicole McCrea of Spokane, WA and Sally and Michael Derusha of Gales Ferry, CT and three nieces and two nephews: Samantha McCrea, Halena McCrea, Elise Derusha, Christopher McCrea, and Tim McCrea. Sue developed a passion and talent for french horn under the tutelage of Robert Brewer at Nathan Hale Middle School, and she went on to earn her degree in Music Performance at Ithaca College, NY. She worked as Associate Principal Hornist for the Natal Philharmonic Orchestra in Durban, S. Africa for seven years, and then for twenty years she worked as a Band Teacher for fifth through eighth graders in Glendale, AZ. While teaching, she was Principal Solo Hornist for Symphony of the West Valley in Sun City, AZ for ten years. She was passionate about her students, having fun, and wave skiing. She was a woman who was full of life and brought happiness wherever she went. Having survived ovarian cancer for just over ten years is a testament to her positive attitude and determination to live, and live well. That, she did.
