It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Betsy H. (Verdugo) Grinnell, on October 24, 2020. Born August 30, 1932, Betsy was the youngest of eight children, first generation American Citizens, born to Guillermo Verdugo and Maria (Benetiz) Verdugo, both immigrants from Mexico to the Arizona Territory, 1882 and 1905 respectively. Betsy was a humble and strong woman whose passion was her family. She worked as an Optician’s Assistant for Lee Optical and was the proud mother and caretaker of her mother until her passing in 1980. Survived by her children Richard "Rick", Kevin and Christine "Tina" Marie Grinnell; grandchildren Cheyenne and Ryan; her son’s 3 step kids, 6 grandkids and 4 great grandkids, 8 nieces, 13 nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews; Alan Grinnell and Hugh and Jacquie Grinnell. Betsy was preceded in passing by husband J. Richard "Dick" Grinnell; parents Guillermo and Maria Verdugo; brother’s William, Bert, Joseph, Gilbert and Manuel Verdugo; sister’s Mary Navarro and Lola Whitman; several nieces; nephews and cousins. A Graveside Committal Service will be held at Holy Hope Catholic Cemetery on November 11, 2020, with Fr. John Allt officiating.
