Allan Hawthorne

Allan S. Hawthorne Died September 5, 2014. He is survived by his wife, Helen; daughters, Laurel Crawford (Ray) Drury and Sandra Hawthorne; grandson, Michael (Sarah) Crawford and great-grandson, Kolby. The son of Edith and Joseph Hawthorne, he was born in Somerville, MA on March 8, 1920. He was educated in the public schools of that city, earned degrees from Harvard and Boston University and had enrolled in graduate program of the University of Arizona. During WWII, he served on a destroyer attached to the Pacific Fleet. He and Helen Louise Brigham, daughter of Herbert and Maude Brigham were married on April 30, 1943. Later, Allan served as a teacher in the schools of Whitman and West Springfield, MA. In 1952, he and Helen and their daughters moved to Prescott, AZ and in 1953 to Tucson. He served as teacher and administrator in TUSD and retired in July 1980. A private service will be held at the Memorial Rose Garden of Catalina United Methodist Church. Allan was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He will be missed by his family and all who knew him.
