Barbara Douthitt Obituary

Barbara Marie Douthitt of Tucson passed away on March 29, 2012. She was born on August 17, 1919 to Nichols and Clotilde Melancon in El Paso, Texas. She graduated from Loretto Academy in 1937. She met and married a young Army cavalry officer, Ted F. Douthitt in 1941. They had two sons and lived throughout the world for over 20 years. She and her family moved to Tucson, her husband's home town, in 1959. She is survived by her children, Ted and Scott (Deborah) of Tucson; former daughter-in-law, Eileen McCoy and grandsons, Robert and Michael Douthitt of Bakersfield, CA; granddaughter, Laura Douthitt of Tucson and many nieces and nephews. She was an accomplished china painter and very much enjoyed spending time with her family. She spent many years volunteering at the Davis Monthan Base Hospital. In Tucson she was an active member of the St. Frances Cabrini parish. Services will be private with burial, alongside her husband, at the old Fort Huachuca Post Cemetery. Her death leaves a void in the lives of everyone who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to your favorite charity . Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel.
