Betty Oxnam Obituary

OXNAM, Betty was our sister, aunt, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother. She departed for heaven on March 11, 2016. Betty was born Elizabeth Jane Raimar on January 31, 1928 in Pittsburg, PA. She graduated from Schenley High and Slippery Rock University, served in the Marine Corps, and taught high school physical education. Betty was preceded in death by Dick, her husband of almost 55 years. Betty had such a radiance about her that the first time Dick saw her, he told his friends he was going to marry her. Betty moved to Tucson in 1954, married Dick and lived all her years here in the house they bought together in 1955. Betty was a beautiful soul who fully and completely embraced life with a childish joy. She was a proud Christian and a strong patriot who taught all of us how to seize life and enjoy every minute. She enjoyed shopping and travel, but most of all she enjoyed time with her family. Betty was very proud of her entire family including seven children, their spouses, 13 grandchildren and one great- grandchild. Betty is survived by her brother, Jim (Kathy) Raimar and sisters, Peggy (Jim) Connelly and Ginger Sherman and her children, Donna (Dale) Oxnam-Frino, Tom (Rose) Oxnam, Eric Oxnam, Kevin (Susie) Oxnam, Andrea (Tim) Dunn, Bert Oxnam, Karl (Maliaca) Oxnam and her grandchildren, Libby and Carly Frino; Nikki Abrell; Nathan and Danielle Oxnam; Kyle, Brian, Garrett and Holly Dunn; Erin and Robin Oxnam; Gabriella and Gracie Oxnam and her great-grandson, Thomas Abrell. We will miss her dearly. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Desert Museum Tortoise Adoption program at 520-883-3055 or
