CECILIA NORTHCUTT

Cecilia Ann Northcutt was born October 30, 1937 in Ardmore, OK to Owen Clay and Anna Lee Doggett Northcutt. She died on January 3, 2015 of cancer in her home in Tucson, AZ. Cecilia is survived by her husband, Sam Ray; her daughter and son-in-law, Ginger and Ron Walker of Edmond, OK; grandson, Zack Walker and grandson and his partner, Joshua Walker and Joshua Schultz. Also surviving is Cecilia's brother and sister-in-law, Leonard and Kayle Northcutt; nephew, Ken Northcutt; nephew, Scott and Christy Northcutt and their family, all of Enid, OK; stepdaughters, Becki Fortuine and Missi Ray of Portland, OR and their children, Sarah, Jon and Katie also survive. Cecilia was preceded in death by her parents, Clay and Anna Lee and siblings, Owen, Sharon, baby John as well as an infant son. Cecilia touched the lives of countless individuals and was a continual source of wisdom and happiness to them all. She was a life-long learner, educator, counselor and mentor to all she encountered. She received her Bachelors degree from Oklahoma College for Women in 1960, her Masters in Counseling and Guidance from the University of Arizona in 1978, and her PhD in Counseling and Guidance and also Psychology from the University of Arizona in 1987. She was a retired licensed Psychologist and Middle School Counselor. She taught Home Economics at Midwest City and Garber, OK. After relocating to Tucson in 1974 she later taught at Pima Community College, the University of Phoenix, University of Arizona, Chapman University and Northern Arizona University. She served on the Board and as President of YWCA of Tucson, and Handi-Dogs Inc., and Reading Seeds. She loved traveling, cooking, knitting, crocheting and could grow anything in her garden. She loved life in all its forms, in the plants she grew and the animals she saw. She shared her bounty with everyone. Cecilia was so proud of the achievements of all her family. She was a loving and selfless individual who always put her family before herself. She was respected by all who knew her both personally and professionally. At her request, no services will be held. Memorial donations could be sent to Literacy Volunteers of Tucson and the Community Food Bank. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel.
