Cyrus Dean

Cyrus W. Dean 89, died July 7, 2015 in Tucson, AZ. He was born in Bucklin, MO to Gladys and William S. Dean. In 1948 he married his lifetime love, Julia Ann Baugher and they shared 66 years of marriage. He was an incredible father of two children, Julie Roth (Tom, MD) and David (Colleen). He encouraged love of family above all else. He served in World War II, joining the Army Air Corps. at age 18. He also served in the Air Force Reserves. After the war he entered the University of Missouri where he received a degree in business. He was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity. In 1950 he began his career as a marketing executive with Libby McNeill and Libby, living in Omaha, Lincoln, Kansas City, San Francisco, and Chicago. Retiring to Tucson 28 years ago he began volunteering for the IRS Vita Program, the Homeowners' Association, and St. Thomas the Apostle Church. His interests included being a good neighbor, woodworking, traveling and bridge. He had three grandchildren, Tim Roth, Jennifer Crawford Dean and Leslie Roth who adored him. He was proud of his four great-grandchildren, Kaelee, Dayton, Jada and Lucie. A highlight of his life was his trip on the Honor Flight to Washington, DC with his son, David accompanying him as guardian. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Chapel, 5150 N. Valley View Road on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. Donations may be made to the Smile Train Charity or a Veteran's cause. Arrangements entrusted to ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel.
