Diego Gadea Obituary

Diego Antonio Gadea 17, born November 14, 1993, passed away tragically on June 17, 2011. He leaves behind his parents, Jeannie and Manuel Gadea; brother, Mario; grandmother, Susi Riedner and a large, loving family. Diego attended kindergarten at St. Francis in the Foothills. He then attended Castlehill Country Day School, before heading to St. Cyril Catholic School from 3rd grade to 8th grade. He was to be a senior at Salpointe Catholic High School. He made lots of friends through his short life, always making people laugh with his delightful sense of humor. He loved sports and was a great athlete. He played Little League Baseball at Canyon View. He played soccer for many years at Fort Lowell Soccer Club, where his teammates called him "The Enforcer" for his strong but clean defensive skills. At Salpointe Catholic High School he played football as a freshman and sophomore, and joined the wrestling team where he made the varsity team as a freshman. He loved the sport, his teammates and was loved and respected by his many friends. As a junior he was captain of the wrestling team and ended the year with a 38-7 record. He was a very good student and made the National Honor Society. He was an intelligent, vibrant, curious and talented young man. A gifted artist, he drew effortlessly with great detail and ease. He loved to play video games, until he mastered them, to move to the next one. As we remember his short but full life, we are left pained by his tremendous unrealized potential. His abrupt departure leaves us with a broken heart and a deep void. We appreciate the love and support that we are all receiving from our friends and family. Visitation and Rosary will be from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at St. Cyril Catholic Church, 4725 E. Pima in Tucson. The Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at 10:30 a.m., also at St. Cyril, with the burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Diego Gadea Memorial Scholarship Fund at Salpointe Catholic High School, 1545 E. Copper 85719, or to The Haven at 1107 E. Adelaide 85719. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, DODGE CHAPEL.
