Dolores McLean

Dolores (Dixie) Fulton McLean 85, of Tucson, died on November 25, 2012, at The Forum in Tucson. A resident of Tucson since 1985, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Washburn McLean, and survived by five children and four grandchildren. She was born to Robert H. Fulton and Elizabeth McEniry Fulton on December 20, 1926 in Evanston, Illinois. She attended high school in Manitowoc, Wisconsin and graduated from Wellesley College in 1948. She met and married her husband, John McLean, in Milwaukee in 1951 and together raised a family of five children. They lived in Connecticut and in the Washington, D.C. area for many years before retiring to Tucson in 1985 where they were both active in the community. Dixie's interests, in addition to family and friends, included Southwest art, music and current affairs. A lifelong volunteer, she served as a docent at the Wadsworth Athenaeum in Hartford and the Corcoran Art Gallery in Washington, D.C. and volunteered at the Tucson Medical Center and the Tucson Symphony Women's Association. Dixie is survived by three daughters and two sons, the Reverend Sarah McLean, E. Falmouth, MA, Ellen McLean (Anthony Imhof), San Francisco, CA, Mildred McLean (Daniel Waugh), Providence, RI, Robert McLean, Taos, NM., and Anthony McLean (Patricia Carlson McLean), Ronkonkoma, NY., and four granddaughters, Anna Waugh, Rebecca Waugh, Andrea Imhof and Victoria McLean. She is also survived by 18 nieces and nephews and numerous grand-nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Rosemary E. Fulton of Dallas, Texas. Family and friends will gather after the new year for an interment ceremony in the memorial garden at St. Mark's Presbyterian Church in Tucson. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial gifts to the Tucson Community Food Bank / 3003 S. Country Club Road / Tucson, AZ 85713. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, Dodge Chapel.
