Edwin Sperka Tucson, Arizona Obituary

Edwin Sperka

Edwin Sperka 72, passed away unexpectedly on April 13, 2015. The saying goes, a stranger is only a friend you haven't met yet. No truer words could be spoken about Ed. To meet Ed was to become his friend. Ed and his wife Marilyn were both born in Chicago in 1943, at the same hospital, baptized in the same church in Chicago and eventually met for the first time in Tucson on a blind date 22 years later. Ed was an alumni of the U of A and never missed watching his beloved Cats play. Ed began his career at the Southern AZ Bank. In 1975 he began working at Farmers Insurance and after a 37 year career, retired from Farmers in 2012. Ed was involved in many charitable causes, including the Optimist Club, Diabetes Assoc. and other children's charities. He was an avid golfer, ping pong player and rarely missed a day shooting pool with his friends. He enjoyed fishing with his buddies and target practicing. Ed is preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Marilyn and parents, Marie Scott and Edwin Sperka. He is survived by daughter, Sharyn (Jim) Rohrer; granddaughter, Katelyn; grandson, Casey; siblings: Bill Scott, Lolly Coyle (Bill), and Mike Scott. Viewing to be held Thursday, April 16, 2015 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. Funeral to be held Friday, April 17, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, with burial to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. A memorial has been established. Ed was a much loved dad, grandpa and friend. He will be missed.
